This summer, our team had the pleasure of welcoming Mary Helen Mendheim as an intern while she was home from college! Mary Helen brought energy, curiosity, and a genuine eagerness to learn to our front desk, and we have truly enjoyed having her as part of our daily operations. Major: Kinesiology with a Concentration in Exercise Science
Future Plans:
“As of right now, I plan to pursue a career on the business and operations side of healthcare, where I can combine my Exercise Science background with the people skills I’ve continued to develop. Medical device sales has recently been on my radar, and orthodontics is still a possibility as well. This internship has definitely opened my eyes to so many opportunities!”
Favorite Part of the Internship:
“My favorite thing about this internship has been the atmosphere and the wonderful people I’ve been blessed to know and work with. It has truly been a joy to walk into an environment filled with people who are passionate about what they do and are willing to teach someone like me all about the world of staffing.”
The Biggest Surprise:
“The most surprising thing I’ve learned during my time here has been the amount of work that goes on behind the scenes before placing a candidate. From applications and background checks to interviews and paperwork, so much happens before someone ever starts their first day. I came in with little to no knowledge of the staffing world, and now I’ve learned so many terms and concepts that I’ll carry with me into my future. Recruiting is so much more than just posting a job and hiring someone!”
The Biggest Takeaways:
“A few important things stand out when I reflect on my internship. One of the biggest is something I hear all the time—communication is key—and it couldn’t be more true in the staffing world. Another is that professionalism comes with real experience. On my first day, I was so nervous about answering the phone and knowing what to say. It may sound silly now, but the more I practiced each day, the more confident I became. I came into this position as green as it gets, but I am so grateful for everything I’ve learned and for all the people I’ve had the chance to meet. This internship has taught me so much about myself and everything that goes into helping someone find a job. It truly has been a blessing, and I will forever be thankful. I’ll miss my PR family! ❤️”
